Discovery of Electricity
Electricity was known to exist since creation, but serious study of it was not undertaken till the 17th and 18th centuries. Consideration of opinions of some of the early researchers like William Gilbert, Benjamin Franklin, and Alessandro Volta fostered the understanding of electric force, static electricity, and the technology behind batteries. Franklin's encounter of kites in a storm in 1752 proved to be the common link between lightning and electricity, whilst the voltaic pile conceived by Volta in 1800 would be the basis of modern batteries.
