Since the launch of the first artificial satellite, Sputnik, in 1957, satellite technology has become so much more versatile. For communication, navgation, weather forecasting, and scientific research, the coverage today is far better than before. The pace with which these technologies grow promises to deliver a remarkable future.

1. LEO satellites such as S. Starlink and Project Kuiper by Amazon hope to further improve the pace of internet access in remote areas. These networks also aspire to close the digital divide.

2. Landsat from NASA and Copernicus from the European Space Agency excel in real-time monitoring of deforestation and ocean temperature changes, as well as atmospheric changes. These also proved useful for tracking change and natural disasters in the environmental context.

3. GPS has improved navigation in transportation, agriculture, and emergency response services. More precision is promised by LEO satellites.
