Television technology has come a long way since its first installation-from bulky cathode ray tube (CRT) to thin OLED and MicroLED displays. Major TV technology innovation has traveled through breakthrough technological inventions and reinvented not just how we see but also how we interact with screens.

The Early Days: CRT and White-TV

Television had been an essential fixture in households since the 1950s, with the CRT technology prevailing in the market. For this, electron beams could let you create images on a phosphorescent screen, with the whole display mostly coming in black and white. These CRT televisions were not characteristically high in resolution; they entailed the use of large, heavy casings which precluded any sort of portability. Also, CRTs laid the foundation for modern television.

Transition from monochrome to more colorful programming in broadcasting in the 1950s and 1960s had introduced a new sex appeal in the medium of communication.
